China and Hong Kong Corporate Treasury Leader
Ian is the Corporate Treasury Leader for PwC China & Hong Kong. He is a member of PwC’s Corporate Treasury Solutions team, and their Banking & Cash Management network. These global teams develop practical guidance to assist clients with their treasury needs across the entire spectrum, from risk management strategy and treasury controls to helping clients improve their banking relationships, including improving their liquidity solutions.
Ian also represents Asia as a member of PwC's Corporate Treasury Technical Committee, developing creative solutions to aid with the designation and documentation of effective hedges that are compliant with the requirements of IFRS.
In addition to his activities in the corporate treasury arena, Ian is one of the founding members of PwC’s Global Accounting Consulting Services group, in which he leads the financial instruments IFRS team for PwC China, Hong Kong, Singapore & Taiwan. This team is responsible for finding solutions to complex financial reporting issues in respect of financial instruments, leasing, consolidation of SPE’s, and related areas. He chairs PwC’s hedge accounting working group. From 2007-2015 Ian also chaired PwC’s derecognition working group, which drives solutions for securitisation structures, supplier finance and related areas.
Ian is a member of PwC’s Corporate Reporting Task Force, which establishes the strategy and points of view regarding emerging IFRS issues across all sectors for PwC.
Outside PwC, Ian has been appointed by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Financial Reporting Council. Previously, Ian was a member of the Financial Reporting Standards Committee at the HKICPA.
