China and Hong Kong Corporate Treasury Leader, PwC Hong Kong
Ian is an Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) partner in PwC Hong Kong, where he has spent more than 17 years. He is one of the founding members of PwC’s Global IFRS group, established in 2006, which is responsible for finding solutions to complex financial reporting issues under international standards.
Ian leads the financial instruments IFRS team for PwC China, Hong Kong, Singapore & Taiwan and is the Corporate Treasury Leader for China/Hong Kong, in which capacity he has helped numerous clients develop or enhance their FX and commodity risk management strategies, policies and procedures. He was also PwC’s first IFRS Leader in India from 2010 to 2012.
Ian chairs PwC’s global hedge accounting working group and, from 2007 to 2015, also chaired PwC’s derecognition working group, which drives solutions for securitisation structures, supplier finance and related areas.
Ian is also a member of PwC’s global leasing group, which works to combine PwC’s data analysis tools and practical accounting solutions with third party leasing systems to ease clients’ transition to IFRS 16.
From 2008 to 2016 Ian was a member of PwC’s Corporate Reporting Task Force, which establishes the strategy and points of view regarding emerging IFRS issues across all sectors for PwC.
Outside PwC, Ian has been appointed by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Financial Reporting Council. Previously, Ian was a member of the Financial Reporting Standards Committee at the HKICPA, and remains a member of the HKICPA’s financial instruments working group.
