On 16 June 2017, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited launched a package of consultation to re-structure the listing regime of the Hong Kong stock markets. The consultation comprised two papers:
a) the Consultation Paper on the Review of the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) and Changes to the GEM and Main Board Listing Rules; and
b) the New Board Concept Paper.
These papers contain proposals that are the result of a holistic review of the Hong Kong listing framework aimed at widening capital markets access by opening up to a more diverse range of issuers, improving the quality of the Hong Kong stock markets and enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as a global financial centre.
