Jason Li joined the PwC’s Global Accounting Consulting Services (GACS) group in 2010 and currently works in Hong Kong.

Jason has in-depth knowledge in IFRS/HKFRS and PRC GAAP, and subject matter expertise on financial instruments and insurance contracts standards. He has long been a member of the financial instruments and insurance accounting groups within the PwC global network with the objective of seeking best solutions worldwide in terms of the standard setting and implementation. Jason focuses on the financial services sector, including banking, insurance, securities, funds, trusts, leasing, asset management and fintech.

As part of internal risk and quality function, Jason is engaged in financial statements reviews and provides consultation and training on the application of accounting standards to engagement teams; offers consulting and training services to external clients in the application of accounting standards, especially the implementation of new standards, e.g. IFRS 9, IFRS 16 and IFRS 17 in recent years.

Jason has developed good relationships with the accounting standard setters in Mainland China and Hong Kong as well as other regulators, such as the CBIRC, through active communications. He also provides training and techincal advice to the department of finance of the MOF, HKICPA and other regulators in their drafting new accounting standards and implementation guidance.

Jason serves as a technical advisor to the China Representative of the IASB’s IFRS 17 transition resource group, and has been an observer of the Hong Kong Insurance Implementation Support Group and a member of the HKFRS 17 Implementation Forum Group consisting of representatives from the large insurers and accounting firms in Mainland China.

Before joining the GACS, from 2004 to July 2010, Jason worked in the Financial Services group of PwC China when he was engaged in project management and provided audit, review and consulting services over the financial reporting, finance and business processes.

Jason was with the insurance audit practice of PwC Singapore from December 2008 to March 2009 for a short-term secondment.
