Charles is a partner of PwC China's transfer pricing team in Shenzhen. He has extensive experience in liaising and negotiating with Southern China tax authorities on APA / MAP applications and transfer pricing audit cases. His client portfolio includes taxpayers from various industries, including telecommunications, technologies, internet based, electronics, software, semiconductors assembly, logistics, industrial manufacturing and retail / wholesale, etc.

Charles is a frequent speaker in seminars for multinational organisations and also excels in advising clients on value chain transformation and transfer pricing re-alignments planning strategies. 

Charles's milestone experiences in relation to APA and audit defence include:

  • Assisted the first Shenzhen bilateral APA between Korea and China for a prominent Korean MNC group positioned in telecommunication / consumer electronics industry
  • Assisted to defend Shenzhen iconic transfer pricing audit cases for two leading global leading semiconductor / electronics and mobile assembly MNC group, which set out the key precedent case in respect to the 'toll processing manufacturing model' and 'contract manufacturing activities model'.

Charles holds a Master's degree in Laws from the University of Hong Kong, and a double Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Laws from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong.
