Successful strategies for talent management
The battle for brains. Talent is the world's most sought-after commodity and the competition is amongst the fiercest in the technology industries which face a looming talent shortage. Technology executives must take steps to deal with it. Successful strategies for talent management, is the third volume in Technology executive connections series. It explores the increasing competition for talent and how leading technology companies around the world are responding to this challenge. Based on 153 online surveys supplemented with 22 in-depth interviews with senior technology executives conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit and PwC in June 2006, the report features four main observations on talent management. Observation one: Technology executives are making talent management a greater priority, but do not have a high regard for their firms' current HR capabilities. Observation two: There is a painful scarcity for the essential employee: that technically-savvy individual who can collaborate, innovate and manage change. Observation three: Technology companies worldwide are renewing focus on retention through development and training. Observation four: Many technology companies are having difficulty finding talent in emerging markets including retaining skilled people worldwide.
