Sonny Doo is a partner of the Assurance and Business Advisory Service based in Guangzhou. He is the leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers' practice in Southern China and responsible for providing accounting, auditing and business advisory services to multi-national and domestic companies in the region.
Sonny joined the Hong Kong Firm in 1978 and subsequently worked in London for 4 years qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. In 1985 Sonny transferred to the Guangzhou office focusing in providing business advice to foreign companies investing in China. Between 1988 and 1992, Sonny was working in our Toronto office providing audit and consultancy services to clients with special focus on the retail sector and developing a Chinese services group aiming at advising Chinese investors in Canada. Upon his return to China in 1992, he was designated the responsibility to service clients in Southern China again. Sonny is specialised in the retail sector and has hands-on experience in setting up retail businesses in China.
Sonny is also the Vice-President of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China-Guangdong ("HKCCC"). HKCCC is a non-profit making body formed to promote business and social interactions for Hong Kong companies and individuals operating in Guangdong. Currently it has over 800 members in Southern China.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has a well established working relationship with the PRC government. Backed by a wealth of knowledge, professional service skills and advanced corporate values, Sonny is appointed by the Guangzhou municipal government as the advisor to help attract foreign direct investment as well as to help Guangzhou government better publicise the local investment environment and policies. The Guangzhou municipal government and PricewaterhouseCoopers jointly held successful investment promotion activities in Japan and Germany (2005) and England (2004).
