Compliance Risk

Compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical conduct standards (SFC, HKMA, OFTA, PCO, etc.) is a major concern of Boards of Directors and Senior Executives--now that they are held accountable and personally liable for violations.  In a complex and decentralised business environment, corporations must institute consistent, enterprise-wide compliance policies and procedures to prevent litigation and reputation damage and meet shareholder accountability demands.

With the multiplicity of regulations and standards that exists today, the key is to establish the right policies and procedures, and to continually update them to reflect changing circumstances.

Our Compliance Risk Management services help clients meet both external and internal regulatory requirements.  We can identify your current compliance risks, build leading-edge compliance programmes, manage the compliance infrastructure and measure and monitor actual practices to ensure that your company meets the highest standards.

Privacy Risk

The growth of e-business has brought with it concerns about protecting the vast amounts of personal information collected and used in the transactions that drive an information economy and managing privacy risk has become a critical aspect of business practice.  Factor in emerging laws, regulatory agendas and pressure for meaningful privacy self-regulation, and it is clear that a new compliance environment is being established. The failure to respond effectively to privacy issues and risks can result in adverse consequences that can range from the creation of onerous regulatory burdens on e-business, to reputational damage and market rejection, to loss of data flow, or to costly litigation.

As organisations seek to take advantage of the increasing business opportunities available through alliances, outsourcing, personalisation, and regional/global business models, the proactive management of privacy issues and concerns will be a critical success factor.

Our professionals will assist you in managing the full range of privacy risks present in today's e-business environment while helping to ensure an effective balance between personal data protection and business objectives. We will help reduce privacy risks and vulnerabilities, and assist organisations in meeting the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and international good practice standards of privacy protection through services that include:

  • Privacy Risk Assessment
  • Privacy Policy Development and Implementation
  • Education and Awareness Programs
  • Compliance Assurance and Third Party Verification
  • WebTrust
