Lloyd specialises in the insurance sector and in advising on complex financial instruments. He joined the Hong Kong financial services practice of PwC in 1997, having previously worked in London and in Johannesburg. In 2003, he was the lead consultant on a study commissioned by the Hong Kong government to consider the feasibility of establishing insurance policyholders' protection funds in Hong Kong. Between 2001 and 2003, Lloyd was responsible for the settlement and recoveries of reinsurance assets in the Hong Kong liquidations of the HIH Insurance group. Lloyd has advised a range of major financial institutions and other large corporations in the Asia region on the IFRS standards for financial instruments, and has extensive experience in OTC fixed income and equity derivatives accounting, valuation, close-out and litigation management issues. This included responsibility for the close-out, recovery and settlement of a US$15 billion swaps portfolio in the Peregrine liquidation in Hong Kong, and involvement in a landmark test case in the English courts in 2000 on the close-out provisions of the ISDA Master Agreement. Prior to joining the Hong Kong practice, Lloyd worked as an insurance sector analyst in PwC's shareholder value services group in London. |
