In our report last year we predicted that the hedge fund industry would polarise between those managers who wanted access to institutional money and those niche players servicing the multi-jurisdictional private investor. The pace of this change has been far faster than anticipated. Alongside this is an increasing range of new pressures and tensions building within the industry. The unavoidable consequence is the industry is now under the spotlight.
This is the fifth year that we have produced this report, which represents a key part of PricewaterhouseCoopers commitment to thought leadership in the global hedge funds industry.
The report is divided into four sections covering current developments in the hedge funds market, regulatory developments, the taxation of hedge funds and hedge fund investors as well as an overview of the various national regulatory and tax regimes as they affect hedge fund managers and hedge fund investors.
