PwC's fifth annual state of the internal audit profession study reveals an internal audit profession in flux, making rapid adjustments to a world that seems at once expanding, contracting, and changing...always changing. Our 2009 state of the internal audit profession study was conducted in the fourth quarter of 2008. 700 internal auditors, 88% of whom are chief audit executives or internal audit directors or managers and 69% from companies with $1 billion or more in annual revenue, responded to the survey. The objectives of this study are to:
- Capture a "snapshot" of the internal audit profession;
- Share our perspectives about major issues, trends and changes reshaping internal audit today;
- Collect benchmarking data to help organizations compare and contrast their internal audit processes and procedures; and
- Provide a baseline to measure changes to the profession in the future.
