Brian Cheung is a partner who, while based in Hong Kong, spends a significant portion of his time in mainland China. He has nearly 20 years of professional accounting and advisory experience in Hong Kong, the PRC and Canada. For the past eight years he has specialised in the provision of corporate restructuring and corporate recovery services, including restructuring advisory, negotiation support, NPL advisory, loan portfolio management and other special investigation work. Recently he has been involved in:
- Advising China Orient AMC in relation to the disposal of a number of NPL portfolios including the successful sale of a US$225 million (face value) NPL portfolio in January 2002 to a US-based investor group.
- Advising a US-based investment bank in relation to its potential acquisition of an NPL portfolio from a Chinese AMC.
- Providing financial advisory services on a number of debt/corporate restructurings of PRC and Hong Kong companies.
- Advising the Zhu Kuan Group (window company of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government) in relation to its US$700 million restructuring of its foreign indebtedness.
- Lead partner in the Hua Rong Group restructuring (window company of the Fujian Municipal People's Government).
- Lead partner in the restructuring of a PRC state-owned enterprise listed in Hong Kong.
