Issue 4, January 2006 A bulletin for financial investors in Asia Pacific
This is PricewaterhouseCoopers' fourth issue of Asia Financial Buyer, a publication for our private equity, venture capital and other financial investor clients. 2005 saw a significant rebound in Asian private equity and we witnessed record funds under management, a high level of deal activity and some substantial exits in the region. The shift of activity towards China was particularly noticeable. In this issue of Asia Financial Buyer, we explore which industries in China are attracting investment from private equity investors, as an introduction to a series of Industry Focus articles from our specialists across the region. We also take a closer look at what it takes to distinguish yourself from the crowd in Asian private equity, and update you on the latest deal structuring aspects on a country by country basis. We discuss the critical period between signing and completing a deal. We look at the lessons from three recent transactions - to explore what you can do in this interim period to protect deal value as well as identify any additional value opportunities. Lastly, we outline the developments in India, a market with emerging opportunities for the financial investor.
