Future proof plans This report explores the insights of 1,124 CEOs around the world. We look specifically at what the 80 CEOs in the engineering and construction industry think and analysed how they are dealing with a combination of challenges such as mankind has never seen before from three main perspectives, i.e. business environment, balancing short-term and long-term concerns and looking forward.
Some key findings from the survey are:
- E&C CEOs are much less confident about increasing their companies' revenues over the next 12 months, only 18% of respondents are very confident;
- 53% of the E&C CEOs see low-cost competition a serious threat to growth for the industry;
- M&A outlook drastically dropped, only 21% of respondents are planning cross-border M&A activity over the next 12 months. More CEOs perceive that JVs will play a critical role in the next three years;
- The likelihood of contract disputes is increasing;
- 29% of respondents believe that climate change creates opportunities for the E&C sector; and
- The need of collaborating with the government and industry to achieve regulatory stability.
