Global hedge fund distribution survey 2015: Distribution disrupted - Spotlight on alternatives

Dec 2015

The rapid changes across the global economic landscape due to the financial crisis have generated tremendous change in the asset management industry as it has assumed centre stage. The need for increased and sustainable long-term investment returns has increased investor appetite for alternative asset classes in particular.

Increased regulation has helped focus minds in the hedge fund industry. Identifying and targeting sales channels and targets was not systematic at many hedge funds until recently.

Today, many have sophisticated processes to decide which investor channel or channels, and which markets and regulatory regimes they want to target.

This report, 'Distribution disrupted - A spotlight on alternatives', is a collaboration between PwC and the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), and assesses the impact of regulatory reforms and changed investor behaviour on hedge fund distribution models and capital-raising efforts and opportunities, which is a priority for firms continuing to seek growth.
