Deals Market Leader, South China and Hong Kong

Wai Kay Eik is a deals partner and a key member of our firm’s Private Equity (PE) transaction team in Greater China. Wai Kay is a Chartered Accountant and has extensive investment diligence experience from hundreds of transactions. 

Wai Kay is also heading our Delivering Deal Value (“DDV”) competency in the Deals practice, leading a group of dedicated deal professionals who are operational and functional specialists from industry, to support and advise PE buyers/sellers on identifying value creation opportunities and to de-risk their investments quickly and effectively. The DDV specialist team and himself are very experienced in working under live deal environments and through both pre- and post-deal phases, due diligence and implementing requirements of PE investors, both in buy-outs and strategic minority investments, in areas such as:

  • Operational due diligence
  • Carve out and divestment support
  • Synergy development and review
  • Taking control and 100 day planning
  • Post investment monitoring and integration activities

He has worked with a number of high profile funds in China and Hong Kong and PE-backed businesses for operations and financial reporting improvement initiatives, and in preparation of exits by financial investors. He is also the advisor to several large privately owned enterprises in China, helping them to improve their financial and management reporting practices. 

Wai Kay is currently a Fellow of the ACCA and has also received an MBA (distinction) from Imperial College Management School in the UK. He was also one of the invited judges for the inaugural Private Equity International Award for Operational Excellence in 2012.
